Can i use a prepaid debit card to order things online?

For my birthday i got a debit card,its a visa it works like a gift card anywhere
so since its visa can i use it online?or since its not a real credit card i cant use it?

Of course you can use it online. You just have to look if the store give the opportunity to pay with your prepaid card.

Some shops even sell thesse prepaid credit cards to their customers.

All cards which have a Visa or Mastercard logo on can be used in any shop which accept Visa and MC.

There are actually plenty of sites which don't accept debit cards even if they are from mastercard or visa card. This is due to the fact that you can not preauthorize any amount on a virtual debit card.

that's true, and it is an issue, but many websites still allow the use of a Debit Card with the Visa or MasterCard logo... but of course if that particular website which has the services/product you want to do, you will have a hard time to find it somewhere else, if the only way of payment is this Debit card.

Most of prepaid debit cards have a Visa or Mastercard affiliation and can be used for making online bill payments. Thy are especially helpful for travelers.
